Using the client portal
How to sign in to the KFM client portal, and what each part of it is for.
Go to portal.kfmus.com, enter your email and press "Email me a sign-in link"; the email carries a one-time link that signs you in. Inside, To-dos lists what KFM needs from you, Documents is where you upload files, Billing is where you pay invoices, and Messages is where you write to KFM.

The client portal at portal.kfmus.com is where you see what KFM needs from you, send documents, pay invoices and message us. Send documents only through the portal upload, not by email.
Signing in
Enter your email, tick the consent box and press Email me a sign-in link. The one-time link in that email opens One more step; press Continue signing in. If the email is not there within a minute, check your spam folder.
If you prefer a password, choose Sign in with a password instead. A portal password is at least 12 characters, and Forgot your password? is there if you lose it.
The portal needs an active engagement with KFM. Without one, it shows You do not have access, with a Contact KFM link.
What each menu item is for
- Overview shows a Needs you today tile when something is open, such as an invoice or an engagement letter to sign. Your work in progress shows each engagement's stage as "Step X of N".
- To-dos lists everything we need from you. Each row has a due date and a link such as Upload it, Sign it, Pay or Open the form.
- Documents holds the tax returns, accounting and business documents we have on file for you. You can search and download them; there is no delete. An engagement letter waiting for you shows here as Awaiting your signature. You sign it through the secure signing link KFM emails you.
- Services has a Tax Services card. Start intake opens the tax intake form.
- Billing shows your balance due, open invoices with Download PDF and Pay now, and your payment history with receipts. Paying opens KFM's secure checkout at kfmus.com.
- Messages holds your conversations with KFM.
How ticking a to-do works
Tick an item when you have done it. It then shows Pending review until KFM confirms it; tick it again to undo. Only KFM marks an item done, and it then leaves the list. Signing an engagement letter and paying an invoice complete on their own, so those items cannot be ticked.
Uploading documents
What to send is in What documents to send. To upload, open Documents and choose Upload a document, or use an Upload link on a to-do or an engagement card, which picks that engagement for you. You can add several files at once, each up to 25 MB, in PDF, JPG, PNG, HEIC, GIF, WEBP, Word, Excel, CSV, TXT or RTF format.
The Where does this belong? menu asks which return or engagement the file is for. Pick it when you know it. If you are not sure, choose Not sure? Send it anyway and KFM will file it for you. A file over the limit gets the message "Try a smaller scan or photo, or split the PDF."
Messages
Press + New and choose what your question is about. You can attach up to 3 files, 6 MB each and 6 MB in total. When KFM replies, you get an email titled New message from KFM with a View message button. The reply itself is in the portal, not in the email.
Keeping it secure
Sign-in links are only ever sent from the kfmus.com domain, and KFM never asks for your password by email. Check the address bar before you sign in, do not share your sign-in links, and use Sign out in the menu when you are on a shared device.
If you cannot sign in, or anything about the portal looks odd, email support@kfmus.com or call +1 (786) 307-0544.
